Hi Friends! I hope you all had a wonderful Easter weekend! My family and I definitely did. We enjoyed extra time at home with a long weekend, lots of food, and of course some really great church services celebrating the season. With some of our extra time at home we got to work on the back yard :) I wanted to share a little post about our Backyard Update & Easter Fun! Hope you enjoy!
This spot in our backyard is pretty much always in the shade. We’ve been saying we are going to put a flower bed here since we moved in two years ago but still haven’t. Since I found that local plant nursery a few weeks ago I decided it was finally time because they have tons of full shade beautiful plants. Just what I wanted!
Once my hubby dug up the spot and mixed up all the dirt I got to work on laying out the bricks for the border. This was a lot harder than I thought it would be, but I’m very happy with how it turned out. Several of these plants will bloom with colorful flowers in the summer. I’m so excited because I totally thought to have a full shade garden I’d have to give up having any color, but I was wrong.
We also got several of these large stones to use to make a pathway to the fence. I can’t wait until everything blooms. It’s going to be gorgeous, and we got this done just in time for the baby shower I’m throwing for my best friend in two weeks! Perfect reason to do updates to your house…have a bunch of people over that you haven’t seen in a long time ;)
We also got these beauties for this large planter we have. These are a type of azalea that can survive in almost full shade…score!
We also finally got little borders around our rose bushes to keep the rain water from washing all the mulch away when it drains out of the yard. This middle bush was struggling a little bit compared to the others, but it’s alive and finally thriving. It just needs to catch up now!
Now, on to some Easter Fun! We had my whole family over Sunday night, and it was a blast as usual. I have 4 siblings and 2 of them have significant others, plus my parents, my grandmother, mother-in-law and of course, me and Brandon. Oh yeah, we have two dogs at every gathering too (haha), Izzy dog and my mom’s dog, Bentley :) p.s. this picture was taken after dinner & dessert so everyone kind of just collapsed where they found a comfy spot ;)
And the boys in my family are silly so they had to have a picture showing off their crazy socks! The dogs must have heard me say, “say cheese”! Lol ;)
No family Easter gathering is complete without a full spread of food. Thanks to my mom and mother-in-law for helping me create this colorful feast. It was so yummy!
Lastly, a little snapshot of my spring decor. I’m super happy to bring out all my coastal decor. I would keep this up all year if my hubby would let me leave the Christmas tree in the attic ;) Just kidding, I love Christmas and I love re-decorating my house all the time (clearly), but my favorite decor is my spring/summer stuff for sure.
I hope you enjoyed a little peak into my Backyard Update & Easter Fun with my family. I hope you all had a wonderful time this past weekend as well. Have a great week friends!
