I’m so glad to be back to the blog this week. It’s been a crazy month all together, but the last week was definitely the most insane. For those of you who don’t know, my day job is working as a contractor for my church as marketing coordinator for special events. Our church hosts 3 large conferences every year (One marriage conference, Forward youth conference, & Divine women’s conference), and my job is basically to help in the coordination of all aspects of these conferences. With that said, this past weekend was our women’s conference so the last few weeks, especially last week, have been a whirlwind. I just did not have the time I would have wanted to put into a good blog post last week so I decided to take a week off.
However, I’m back and so ready for Fall. It’s a slow process of decorating in my house because there are so many new decor items I want to buy but let’s be honest, who wants to break the bank all in one weekend at home decor stores?? Okay, I’d love to but I’m also on a budget! I decorate with what I have and add a little as the weeks go on. Fall is one of the longest seasons as far as decorating goes because I start decorating the first weekend of September & don’t remove the decor until after Thanksgiving. So, I still have time to add to my decor before the family is here for Thanksgiving dinner!
What I have done so far are a few new fall DIY projects that are inspired by some ideas I found on Pinterest. I decided to make a couple Halloween crafts as well as regular fall crafts. One of my favorites I did are these pumpkins. I made these out of left over 2×4’s I had from an old table and the legs off of my old pallet ottoman. I actually screwed these together because the legs had screws in them already, but you could just hot glue them too. The legs were black and the 2×4’s white so I did some painting and added cute designs. Then, I had some old leftover fall garland that was too old to reuse but perfect for taking pieces and making vines for my pumpkins. A little hot glue and they are cute as can be. This was such an easy project.
I also made this cute “Boo” sign after seeing the idea on Pinterest through The Pinning Mama blog. It got me wanting to do more so I made one that said “Fall” too. I bought the letters at my local craft store, painted and sprinkled on the glitter. The paint acts as a glue so it’s super easy. To finish them off I sprayed a coat of clear topcoat spray paint on them just to help the glitter to stick even better. Then with more hot glue I put some ribbon on the “Boo” sign and twine on the “Fall” sign to hold the letters together. Super easy and cute!
The last project I’ll show is my painting. This isn’t really a project I can show all the steps because I really just saw the idea on Pinterest, once again, and bought a canvas & some paint. I’m in the process of learning calligraphy so I thought it was a good time to practice on my first painted sign. I ended up placing this sign in a basket that sits on the bench in my entry way. This will be where I place the bucket of candy on Halloween so I thought it was a perfect spot.
These are just some of the decor items I have for Fall, but they are all the DIY pieces I’ve done so far this year. I’d love to hear about your favorite Fall DIY projects so please share your ideas below!! Thanks for reading friends…I am loving where this blogging world is taking me and I’m glad you’re along for the journey.
Have a wonderful week everyone…I’m about to head out to put my toes in the sand for a much needed mini vacation! ;) I can’t wait to blog all about it!!
