An Easy Way to Give Any Room a Drastic Makeover!
Hello again friends! I am so excited to show you our Great Room Update! I say great room because technically our living room, dining room and kitchen are all in one room. Now, before I get into the fun photos I just have to say I am so glad to be back in the swing of things with my blog. If you’ve been following along with me for the past year, then you might have noticed the little summer “hiatus” I took. Well, that wasn’t exactly planned, but it was much needed. I’m thankful to have this little piece of the internet to come back to, and I want to say thank you for continuing to follow along with me! Now to the fun part…
This was an easy update because really all we did was paint, but it took 2.5 days and a lot of work! So, I say “easy” update very lightly! Haha. Painting seems so fun before you start, but it gets old REAL quick! So.Much.Cutting in. I did all the cutting in around trim, our fireplace and all the kitchen cabinets!! It was so much tedious work, but I’m so glad we sucked it up and got it done. The hubby did all the rolling and the cutting in on the highest part of the vaulted ceilings…having a 6’5″ hubby is a blessing! ;)
The entire space feels lighter and brighter. It automatically made it feel like there was more natural light coming into the room as soon as we painted over those terrible builder grade beige walls. The colors we chose were Eider White and Sea Salt, both by Sherwin Williams. The two walls with vaulted ceilings and the kitchen are Eider White. The wall with the mantle on it juts out from the main wall and we painted that small wall Sea Salt while the main wall was Eider white. The opposite wall that leads into our entry way and under the kitchen bar is also Sea Salt. The only other things we painted were our two small “hallways” (that aren’t actual hallways) that lead into all the bedrooms. Those were painted Sea Salt as well. I will say, it’s a little difficult to see the difference in the two wall colors in pictures. It’s a very slight color difference in person, but overall just the lighter walls makes such a huge difference!
We are so happy with how it all turned out. Our next update will be painting the kitchen cabinets then a mantle/fireplace makeover! ;) I can’t wait.
Okay, I know you’re dying to see the before/after photos. So, here we go…Enjoy…!
Here’s the hubby working hard at the tippy top of the ceiling.
And here’s the after…I’m in LOVE!
