Who’s ready for Halloween? I definitely am! This year we are all dressing up…that’s me, Brandon and Izzy dog! ;) This week I wanted to share some my Favorite Halloween DIY Projects and Recipes. These are so fun! I’ll share a couple of projects I did on my own and a few top recipes that I found through pinterest that are super cute!
When Brandon and I first got married I had never participated in Halloween besides local church fall festivals. I never trick-or-treated growing up and never dressed up in a costume until I was 18. I was slightly sheltered…thanks mom! Haha. Anyway, Brandon grew up trick-or-treating his whole life so he was determined to teach me how it was done. Of course we don’t have kids yet, but we have just as much fun stocking up on candy and meeting all the cute kids that trick-or-treat in our neighborhood. It’s always a fun night and Izzy dog loves it too. She gets lots of petting from the neighbors on Halloween. :)
Speaking of Izzy, check out the parrot costume I made her! Yeah, we’re going to be pirates and Izzy is a parrot! I thought you guys might like to see this fun little project. How cute is she??
Yeah, she hates me! ;) But it’s adorable…I can’t help it!
I used several pieces of felt, feathers, elastic and lots of hot glue. There aren’t really step-by-step instructions for this one because I’m not sure how many people in the world are looking to learn how to make their dog a parrot costume! Actually I know there aren’t a lot because I couldn’t find anything on Pinterest about it! Ha! So, if you do want to know step-by-step instructions shoot me an email. I really just made it up as I went by measuring Izzy and gluing the pieces together then adding feathers. It’s not perfect, but it works and it’s cute!
I also turned my beach pillow into a mummy by using the back side of the pillow. I saw this randomly on someone’s Instagram (I have NO CLUE who it was now), but I thought it was just the cutest idea. I’m not sure how that person did theirs since I just saw a picture of it and now can’t find it. So, I went to my local fabric store and picked up 1 yard of white cheese cloth fabric and glued on some googly eyes. I glued a piece of felt to the back of the eyes as well (the cheese cloth would be between the googly eye and the felt) since the cheese cloth has holes in it I didn’t want to glue it directly to my pillow. I attached the cheese cloth to the back with a few safety pins.
This project literally took me less than 5 minutes so anyone can do this. Look how cute! I love it!
Now on to some of the yummiest looking Halloween recipes I have ever seen. I saw all of these while scouring Pinterest, and I can’t wait to try some of them out myself for Halloween night. You can see a little snapshot of each one in the photo above. These recipes come from some great bloggers so be sure to check out not only these recipes but the rest of their posts as well.
